In 1976, she became an international star after she scored her most perfect ever 10 on the bar that was asymmetric during the Montreal Olympic Games. In addition the six perfect tens, and was the most youthful Olympic gold medalist. Nadia Comaneci has not only attracted attention from all angles however she also assisted Romania in gaining a place in the world map. By achieving a score which was impossible to achieve, this sporting icon brought gymnastics into the spotlight of the world's interest. The perception of women athletes was also altered by her performances. Her impact was so significant that she was dubbed the Olympic toe on and release moves. They are still considered difficult. In addition to the Olympics she also became an athlete during the World Championships and European Championships. Her achievements have made her one of the top gymnasts of all time. Also, she modelled and promoted sporting gear following her having moved into the US.
